Based in Istanbul and reporting to Area Procurement Manager as part of the Procurement Team, the cluster Procurement Business Manager (PBM) manages the relationship with end market customers of procurement to ensure their procurement needs are fulfilled and balanced with the needs of the business.

Number of Direct Report: 5

Geographic Scope: Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine  

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • maintain strong relationship with the business functions and manage all aspects of procurement related customer service for their appointed end markets.
  • understand customer/business unit requirements including their business goals, targets, initiatives, directions and supplier performance requirements for their appointed end market.
  • manage the local customer relationship for those categories being managed at end market level, shaping and challenging demand where appropriate and drive continuous improvement. 
  • communicate appropriate procurement messages regarding strategies, process, and policies to stakeholders, to ensure compliance and engender a common understanding of each other’s goals and targets.
  • mitigate BAT’s exposure to service delivery and commercial risk through the delivery of robust end-market contracts in conjunction with lex and the management of the business relationship together with stakeholder.
  • identify the correct route for the resolution of contractual performance issues and support the business in managing suppliers performance issues and their resolution.
  • coach and develop any direct reports and ensure they have personal development plans in place.
  • manage any conflicting requirements between stakeholders and procurement at end market level escalating any issues as appropriate.  
  • determine the scope, scale and impact of any new products or services required by the customer. Communicate these requirements to the relevant GSM where appropriate or amend end market strategies as required to meet the customer needs.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience developing, negotiating, and implementing commercial contracts.
  • Experience in managing projects, especially to execute category and sourcing strategies at end market level.
  • Experience working in an international, cross-functional, highly matrixed, multiple stake-holder environment, both at the strategic and operational levels with a high level of commercial acumen.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate regulations and local legislation to ensure the creation of effective commercial contracts.
  • Solid knowledge of the procurement processes, platforms, and policies
  • In-depth understanding of financial evaluation and interpretation of supplier’s records and their key cost and business drivers
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Highly analytical and digital skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Understand the impact of cultural differences.
  • Successful delivery when working with a virtual team.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree in a relevant business discipline (eg:, Engineering, MBA, Finance Business/Administration, Supply Chain Management, Management, Education, Technical, Economics)
  • Professional knowledge of procurement principles and approach, gained through 4-5 years of operational experience.
  • CIPS qualification is a preferred certification.
  • Fluency in English
