JOB TITLE: Production Engineering Manager

FUNCTION: Operations

SUB FUNCTION:  Operations Manufacturing

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

Lead all aspects of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production efficiency, product quality, and regulatory compliance. With expertise in production techniques and process optimization, lead teams to streamline workflows, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement. Leverage technical proficiency and leadership skills, to achieving operational excellence, meeting production targets, and upholding industry standards within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Establish a culture that fosters and prioritizes EHS within the department and beyond.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Ensure timely implementation of maintenance plans to enhance customer satisfaction across SMD, PMD, and Engineering departments, meeting departmental targets through technology, innovation, and process optimization.
  • Identify and address key site-wide performance and quality issues to improve factory performance and reduce waste effectively.
  • Manage departmental expenditure and assets within the allocated budget, including ancillary production equipment and related operating procedures.
  • Advocate for customer (production) needs in Engineering projects, ensuring detailed understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Uphold EH&S policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop and execute strategies for continuous improvement in factory performance, aligning with customer requirements.
  • Lead IWS PM Pillar activities in collaboration with the regional PM Pillar lead.
  • Foster a professional and motivated team, providing appropriate training and development for succession planning and promoting coaching at all levels.
  • Conduct regular meetings with team members to communicate monthly results, project updates, and maintenance plans.
  • Manage and develop key production support functions including Process Engineering, Maintenance, Sub Assembly Control, and Repair and R&RS.
  • Drive the development of maintenance processes to optimize corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance delivery.
  • Ensure technical health of machinery by managing and maintaining key processes.
  • Determine spare parts requirements and maintain adequate stock levels in the engineering store for SMD, PMD, and FRD areas.
  • Maintain machine documentation including manuals, safety requirements, and inspection reports.
  • Monitor departmental performance against targets, seeking opportunities for improvement even when targets are met.
  • Promote safety behavior through tools application and support, such as Safety Map, RA, QRP, and Guarding Gaps.
  • Integrate EHS principles into production engineering operations, adhering to regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazardous conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and above-market PE teams.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE

Experience Required

  • 4-5 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Junior/Middle Manager category in Manufacturing Environment

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Proficiency in planning, scheduling, and managing production activities to meet demand while minimizing downtime and waste.
  • Ability to analyze production workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance strategies to ensure optimal functioning of manufacturing equipment and reduce downtime.
  • Familiarity with health and safety protocols/practices related to Manufacturing/engineering operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, guide, motivate, and coach diverse teams as a people leader.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences from a recognised University
  • Professional Qualification related to Manufacturing or Engineering
