JOB TITLE: Quality Executive

FUNCTION: Operations

LOCATION: Colombo, Sri Lanka

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is to develop and champion the implementation of local Quality strategy in line with Group Quality strategy, policies, common platforms, and best practices across local factory operations.

A key role facilitating the achievement of factory quality objectives. Reports directly to the Quality compliance & performance Manager. Working across functional groups to ensure the product meets the mentioned quality standards.

Key functions of the QE are Laboratory analysis, Product inspection, Specification Management, Materials Assurance, Auditing & Calibration, Information & Reporting.

The QE works closely with the following functions/ departments: RPC, Marketing, SC Hub, Production, Engineering, Leaf and support functions.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

Business

  • Manage all quality related activities. Review process control plan, drive quality issues to root cause, corrective actions and improvement, track quality performance.
  • Coordinate & Investigate customer feedback, customer complaints and non-conformance issues. Assist in developing quality goals and improvement plans.
  • Track quality performance and initiate quality improvement.
  • Documentation and procedure compliance- Responsible for document management systems, establish, review and revise quality procedures & protocols, establish training / development for shopfloor personal, support the local organization to manage quality issues and continuous involvement in process improvement.
  • Data Analysis and statistical process control- Constant use or apply of statistical techniques in data analysis, implement statistical process control, ensure that Global NPI protocols are reflected in factory’s operational procedures and are followed for the manufacturing of new Products/SKUs
  • Periodical Quality audit process control to ensure compliance and performance to identify opportunity for improvements.

Leadership

  • Organize and conduct sessions in Quality & Product by identifying the areas that require training & awareness across the organization.
  • Inculcate safety culture across & beyond the Quality department.

Management

  • Supervise and control the handling of customer complaints and Non-Conforming –Products (NCP) in order to ensure that a satisfactory answer is given to customers in due time, in terms of technical explanations to their inquiry and further initiate actions to avoid the repetition of faults.
  • Coordinate with material procurement and production, by giving inputs to the production process consistently in order to maintain the expected quality standards, including mutually agreed specifications and necessary ingredient approvals.
  • Turn quality data into information and provide reports to initiate corrective action and process improvement recommendations.
  • Co-ordination and control of infestation procedures and reporting activities.
  • Support the execution of PI&T processes & initiatives.

Relationship

  • Maintain a close working relationship with the procurement & factory team regarding all relevant aspects of Quality management.
  • Maintain strong liaison with Production team, Logistics & Trade Marketing teams to ensure effective implementation of quality improvement & monitoring processes.

Innovation

  • To develop an environment which seeks to continuously improve.
  • Analyze top losses, search for opportunities and make proposals for improvement.
  • To develop and implement: best practices, common platforms, sharing experience/knowledge with other functions and factories within Operations.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE

  • A technical degree along with proven experience in manufacturing and/or product-related fields.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with assessing own product performance concerning consumer quality requirements, competitor activities, and market developments.
  • Proficient in utilizing data analysis tools and conducting statistical analysis.
  • Possesses expertise in Process Analysis, FMEA, UPS tools, with Six Sigma skills considered an additional advantage.
